While anyone can apply a ceramic coating, it’s highly beneficial to have a professional install one for you. This is mostly because there are many steps of prep work involved that require expertise and experience to do successfully, and in a way that makes your car stand out from the rest. 

Anyone can apply a consumer level ceramic coating. What makes the difference is the expertise involved with the specific detailer. Our ceramic coating packages are designed to be able to be completed in 1 full day to keep the convenience of being mobile at its highest. But there are a number of factors that can turn this process into a 1-3 days process as well. These factors include the condition of your paint, the size of the vehicle, and your specific desires. The 1st step is to wash and prep the vehicle. The 2nd step is to correct all the imperfections in the paint such as swirls and scratches. Once the vehicle is properly prepped, we will cleanse the paint of any polish residue to ensure the paint is bare. At this stage, the coating process will begin, and each panel of the vehicle will have the coating applied.

The short answer is yes, but in reality you might not want that. While scratches don’t particularly affect the coating, your car must go through at least a basic polish at the minimum to ensure the paint is completely clean before a ceramic coating is applied. The polishing or paint correction stage to remove scratches is what really yields the beautiful gloss and clarity, and what also brings your car back to life. The ceramic coating will completely seal the paint underneath so that what’s there is what will be there for the length of the coating, scratch or no scratch. 

Yes, a little. A ceramic coating acts as a sacrificial layer and is harder than your clear coat and will help prevent minor scratches and marring from the general routine of maintenance and accidentally touching the paint. But a ceramic coating is not scratch proof and will not protect from rock chips. Paint protection film is the only solution for complete scratch and rock chip protection. 

Yes and no. A ceramic coating will not prevent water spotting, but the coating is highly resistant to them and WILL allow those water spots to be easily removed without damaging the surface. Because ceramic creates a protective layer over the substrate, it does not allow the minerals to corrode or etch the surface that ceramic is protecting, prolonging the life of your metals, paints, gelcoat, plastics, vinyls etc.

The great thing about ceramic coatings is the extreme ease of maintenance. All you need is a gentle car shampoo or rinse less wash solution to clean the vehicle. Only it will take half the time because dirt won’t stick to the paint. Always follow up with a ceramic-based spray sealant afterwards. No, ceramic products are the permanent replacement to wax and sealants. You can throw those products in the trash!

In order to ensure the maximum longevity of your ceramic coating, a yearly annual servicing is highly recommended. We thoroughly go over the vehicle to clean and decontaminate the coating and follow up with a ceramic-based sealant to boost its protection.  

You should wait 7 days before the 1st wash to allow the coating to fully cure. If you notice that your car gets water spots, bird droppings, tree sap, etc. during this 1st week, immediately remove it following our care instructions. Keep in mind the coating is softer during the 7 days so work on the paint very gently.
